What I learned.....

This is my little dog Oscar. He is about 16 yrs old and recently has had trouble getting up and around. It is not uncommon for Daschunds to have back problems. We believe Oscar was abused as a puppy and that has added to the problems he is now having with his back. We think he may have been kicked across the floor when he was a puppy as he is afraid of any shiny surface. When we take him to the vet he will not walk on the floor at all. He will not walk in the kitchen or in the garage...he does not like our foyer....hard wood.

Back to my story.....recently he has had problems pushing up on his back legs. Once he gets up...he is really wobbly. He are getting him a shot each month for this and also have him on a special dog food that is suppose to help. I cannot see that these measures have made a lots of difference. Took him back to the vet and he gave Oscar some different medicine and we are going to have the shot every 3 weeks instead of once a month. He told me as long as Oscar could "poop" and "pee" he would be ok. You know people probably think I am crazy when I am excited my dog can do "Number 1 & 2".

On with my blog....I got this email today and it so fits the situation we are in. Oscar has complete faith that Mr Man and I will always take care of him....he's so right......soooo this is what I have learned from my little dog........

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy-ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERYDAY

This is not Oscar or my dogs but love the pictures:

Oscar did look like this when we first got him at age 2.

Fall....

It is definately not fall here in the south....the temp today is suppose to be 90

But...I am ready for the look and smell of the fall....I have to go to North Alabama to get the true color but I love the change of the leaves and the crispness of the air.

I love homemade soup and cornbread.....

I love chicken and rice with those little rolls and butter...

I love chili and crackers.....

I love the smell of cinnamon and apple pie...

I want to put my new orange table cloth on and put out my fall arrangments...little pumpkins and my little wagon with the fall flowers....

And then there is Thanksgiving and right behind that Christmas....

Why is so much of the season's based on food?

I am so ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I are a College Student

I have decided that since I do not know what I want to be when I grow up....I am going back to college at the age of 60 to learn digital photography. I am pretty good with my new camera but there are so many features on it that I do not know how to work.

No I am not going to handle hawks or any other bird of prey...I may take pictures of them....
South..The University of South Alabama offers a Certification Program In Photography...think I might just take it...
Photography is something I have enjoyed for years but never taken to the next level. I think it is time to up the pot and jump in with both feet.

Who knows I may be a famous photographer of the Life and Times of the People of the Bay....

Gulfport and Biloxi

All you hear about is New Orleans and the parts of Louisiana effected by Gustav.....

Here is the damage Gustav did to Biloxi and Gulfport

Highway 90--which is the main beach road- is gone again....they just got it fixed from Katrina...
The whole first floor of the HARD ROCK is under water...Katrina wiped it out on the day it was suppose to open....now they are flooded.....

We need to keep them in our prayers because since they help themselves and do not complain....people forget about them

Waiting for Gustav

We spent our labor day waiting for Gustav to decide if it was going to Louisiana or Alabama. Since we live on the Gulf Coast, we were a little apprehensive as to the direction it was going to take.

Our Monday started out fine, just a little cloudy but got worse as the day went on.

Rain, wind...wind and Rain ....
At one time the rain was blowing sideways across the yard...

Gustav gave me a little pond in the yard where there was not one before

All day we listened to Tornado Warning for our area

But none came.......so very glad....

Read and awesome book..itwas so good....

Stayed in my PJ's allll day...never lost power or the TV....for a hurricane...it could not have been better......

Not everybody was so lucky but nothing like Katrina....
